You get the full agreement to read before you commit to anything. Nothing here runs on a handshake or a verbal promise.
Your rights and royalties, named explicitly
The agreement states, in plain language, that you keep 100% of your rights and 100% of your royalties. If a contract doesn't say this clearly, don't sign it, anywhere.

What you're paying for is listed out, the same way it's listed on every service page here. Vague scope is where trust dies.
Timeline commitments
The stages of the process and the expected timeframe for each are stated in writing, not just implied on a call.

Rights policy: 100% yours, always
You keep 100% of your rights. You keep 100% of your royalties. On every book, in every format, for as long as the book exists. This is the entire premise of partnership publishing, and it does not change based on scope, price, or how the launch goes.
If a publisher, of any kind, won't put that in writing before you pay them, that's your answer.
The vanity-press warning
A vanity press makes its money selling you services, whether or not your book is ready, whether or not it will work, sometimes whether or not you asked for them. Some quietly take rights while calling it a publishing deal.
If anyone offers to publish your book without involving you, run.

A vanity press profits from selling you services regardless of whether the book is any good, and some quietly take rights while calling it a publishing deal. We keep our contract highlights public, our rights policy stated plainly, and our founders publicly verifiable. The one-line test that works everywhere: If anyone offers to publish your book without involving you, run.
What's the difference between a hybrid publisher and a traditional publisher?
A traditional publisher pays you an advance, but takes a large share of rights and royalties, and can take a year or more just to say yes. A hybrid, or partnership, publisher charges an upfront fee but leaves your rights and royalties with you, 100%. Neither is a scam by default; the scam risk shows up in publishers, of either kind, that hide their terms.
